Students,
I cannot stress the importance of being involved in an internship program during the four years that you commit to your further education at college or university. Employers are looking for real life work experience in job candidates and especially in those areas that involve social interaction and helping the many who are less fortunate than us in the US.
We want to introduce you to the Aspen Institute Program on Philanthropy and Social Innovation (PSI) in Washington, D.C. which offers the William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fellowship to one student three times annually. The fellowship, which is based on academic excellence and need, is open to both undergraduate and graduate students of color. The Hearst Fellow will serve as an intern with PSI in the Washington, D.C. office of the Aspen Institute located at 2300 N Street NW. Through this fellowship, PSI seeks to introduce a diverse group of students to issues and challenges affecting philanthropy, social enterprise, nonprofit organizations, and other actors in the social sector. Recipients may arrange with their colleges or universities to receive academic credit for this experience.
This is not a scholarship. You will be required to work part-time (15-20 hours per week) during the period May – August 2018 and your remuneration will be $15.00 per hour. The Annapolis Trust will cover travel costs if using the Metro.
To apply, you will need to submit a current resume, cover letter, unofficial transcript, writing sample, and letter of recommendation. The letter of recommendation from a professor or supervisor can be included with your application, or emailed directly to rachel.pulley@aspeninstitute.org.
Application Deadline: March 16, 2018
Award Notification: April 18, 2018
